Adele’s “25” spends its fifth week at No. 1

Adele finds herself in a familiar place as she continues her reign of the music world by extending her rule at the top of the Billboard 200 chart for the fifth week in a row. The British singer’s album “25” moved 1.16 million albums for the week ending December 24.

“25,” already the biggest selling album in the U.S. for 2015, has sold more than 7 million copies since its November 20 release.

As for the rest of the Billboard 200, Justin Bieber’s “Purpose” remained postioned at the No. 2 spot with a very respectable 229,000 units, while Chris Brown’s latest effort “Royalty” opened at No. 3 with 184,000. This marks Brown’s largest sales week since 2011 when his F.A.M.E. album debuted at No. 1 with 270,000 units sold.

Pentatonix’s “That’s Christmas to Me” fell one spot to No. 4 with140,000 units sold. The box office titan Star Wars joined the music charts with the “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” soundtrack rounding out the top 5.

The Billboard 200 chart tallies units from album sales, song sales and streaming activity.
