Amid protests, villagers organise Jallikattu in Tiruchirappalli

Madurai/ Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, Jan 22 (ANI): Amid the ongoing controversy on Tamil Nadu’s bull taming sport Jallikattu, villagers of Tiruchirappalli’s Pudupatti organised the sport on Sunday. At least 100 bulls and over 500 bull-tamers participated in the event. Simultaneously, a sit-in protest was held in Madurai’s Alanganallur where the villagers reiterated their demanded of permanent solution on the subject. Carrying placards, the protestors also demanded ban on People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The bull-taming sport has made the headlines ever since the Supreme Court imposed a ban on it. Massive protests had followed the announcement.
