Authorities say a fire that destroyed a Florida mosque attended by the Orlando mass shooter Omar Mateen is being investigated as arson. Linda So reports.
Arson erupts at Orlando shooter’s mosque
When firefighters arrived at the mosque they saw flames shooting through the roof.
Authorities say arson is to blame.
The fire broke out overnight heavily damaging the Fort Pierce Islamic Center, a mosque once attended by Omar Mateen, the mass shooter who killed 49 people at a gay nightclub in Orlando.
Investigators say they have video that shows an individual approaching the mosque, then a flash followed by fire.
Leaders at the mosque stepped up security in recent months after they received threats that the building would be torched.
Police say they will release the video soon hoping it will help identify the suspect.
