STORY: Senator Bernie Sanders said his former rival and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton must focus on the issues to build her standing with American voters, including the millennial generation who strongly supported his candidacy during the primary season.
“I think the antidote is that she has to got to make it clear not only to the millennials but every American the difference that she – not just on personality which is what the media focuses on – but the real issues impacting the middle class and working families of this country,” Sanders told “Face the Nation” on CBS on Sunday, when asked about Clinton’s troubles with millennial voters.
Sanders then pointed out the policy differences between Clinton and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on issues such as the economy, climate change, the Citizens United decision and others.
Clinton will face off against Trump on Monday night in the first of three presidential debates, with opinion polls showing her once sizable lead over the New York businessman narrowing amid continued public doubts about her trustworthiness.
