Atlas V rocket blasts off

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)

An Atlas V rocket blasted off from Cape Canaveral on Saturday (October 31), at 1213 eastern daylight time (1613 gmt).

The United Launch Alliance rocket is tasked to put a Global Positioning System satellite into orbit for the U.S. Air Force.

It was the third United Launch Alliance Atlas V to blast off this month and the eighth this year, according to NASA.

One more Atlas launch is scheduled for 2015.

It is expected to carry a Cygnus spacecraft to the International Space Station.
