Bachchans Grace The Opening Of Kolkata Film Festival
In a splendid show of Bollywood camaraderie and the mingling of politicians and celebrities, the 20th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) India’s second oldest movie fest has been inaugurated. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan and superstar Shahrukh Khan fired up the opening ceremony of the renowned film festival.

Yesteryear actress and wife Jaya Bachchan, son Abhishek Bachchan and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also accompanied Amitabh Bachchan at the do. Shahrukh Khan also graced the inaugural ceremony of 20th Kolkata Film Festival 2014. All of them took the centre stage on the dais and set the evening on fire with their oomph, charisma and reiteration of their links to Bengal.
A regular fixture in big events of the state government, Shah Rukh Khan, also the state’s brand ambassador, was greeted with loud cheers as he urged international delegates to try the variety of sweets from Bengal. Attired in gold and black, former beauty queen Aishwarya Rai launched the official brochure while veteran actress Tanuja and Jaya Bachchan released music CD of Bengali music. Indian filmmakers Amol Palekar and Shoojit Sircar graced the occasion with a host of Bengali film actors.
