Bollywood stars pay tribute to 26/11 victims

Sharing is Caring

Mumbai, Nov 27 (ANI): Bollywood stars paid tribute to the victims of the horrific 2008 Mumbai terror attacks where 166 people were massacred by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants in a series of attacks in the national financial capital. An unprecedented militant attack shook India on November 26, 2008, as a group of 10 gunmen from LeT, who arrived from Pakistan in a boat at a Mumbai harbour, attacked several landmarks. The group of men split into pairs and spread across the city spraying bullets and hurling grenades across places like the iconic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Trident Hotel, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Leopold Café and Nariman House – a Jewish community center among others. In an assault that lasted for three days, 166 people were killed, including six Americans, and scores were injured. To remember the dead, Bollywood stars came out to light candles and hosted a musical event. They said that Mumbai still remembered the horrific attacks. The Mumbai attacks showed that a relatively small number of dedicated, suicidal attackers with automatic weapons and sufficient ammunition could wreak havoc in a relatively confined urban area. Of the 10 Mumbai attackers, nine were killed. Ajmal Kasab, the lone survivor of the Pakistan-based militant squad was hanged to death in November
