Just a few weeks before Christmas in 2014, 39-year old Angela Wrightson was found in her house with more than 100 injuries.
Now, two teenage British girls have been given life sentences with minimum terms of 15 years for violently attacking her in northeast England.
Her mother had no words to offer as she left the courthouse.
A neighbor expressed outrage and pain
(SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED NEIGHBOUR, SAYING:
“They are going to get out and have a nice life. What about Angela and her family? Her mum had to witness her daughter’s body on a slab through two teenage girls. The society is awful.”
The unnamed girls were only 13 and 14 at the time of the murder. They repeatedly hit Angela with whatever was at hand – a shovel, a TV and computer printer – until her death.
A judge banned any identification of the girls after one of the girls reportedly has tried to kill herself on several occasions after her arrest.
