Buried alive for 80 hours in Kathmandu

A team of emergency workers in Kathmandu make their way into a broken building in an effort to help a man trapped after an earthquake hit Nepal some four days ago.

The man had been on the second floor of a seven-storey building when the earthquake struck.

The floors above him were intact and a Nepali-French team drilled down to reach him after he shouted for help. The rescue took five hours.

He comes out alive — that’s after spending some 80 hours in a room with three dead bodies.

The 28-year old identified as Rishi Khanal appeared to have no access to food or water while he was trapped.

A survivor’s story amid a disaster that has killed more than 5,000 people.
