Carol Burnett has received some of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon an artist, and on January 30, she’ll add one more trophy to her collection, a lifetime achievement award from the Screen Actors Guild.

SOUNDBITE: Carol Burnett saying (English):

“To use my friend Julie Andrews’ comment, this is very British, I was gobsmacked.”

She’ll be presented with the SAG award by comedy duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, two actresses who have repeatedly referred to Burnett as the star who set the mark for women in comedy. Burnett, however, brushes off the idea of being a trailblazer.

SOUNDBITE: Carol Burnett saying (English):

“If I’d never been born, they’d be doing what they’re doing. They would be where they are today. I appreciate the trailblazer label, but I don’t think that’s really the case”

Burnett is best known for her long-running variety series, “The Carol Burnett Show,” which aired during the 1960s and 70s. Her sketches are ingrained in American television history, with such classic moments as a parody of “Gone With the Wind.”

She said she doesn’t get the opportunity to revisit the characters she made famous during the show’s run but she does put to use her famous scream, dubbed the Tarzan yell, every so often.

SOUNDBITE: Carol Burnett saying (English):

“If I’m upset about something, I’ll go somewhere private and do the Tarzan yell. Because the body, it’s a release. And then I feel really good afterwards.”

Even at 82-years old, Burnett’s star is still burning bright. She’s co-starred on the CBS television series “Hawaii Five-0” and has recently done a media tour to promote her new DVD, “The Carol Burnett Show: The Lost Episodes.”

As for her enduring legacy, Burnett has one wish.

SOUNDBITE: Carol Burnett saying (English):

“Well, I would hope they wouldn’t say, ‘Who was she?’ I would hope they say, ‘She made me laugh.”
