ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)

STORY: Pro-Muslim Brotherhood Cairo University students clashed with plain-clothed security as they staged a protest on Sunday (April 19) to denounce the trial of ousted President Mohamed Mursi, set for Tuesday (April 21).

The students, who call themselves ‘Students Against Coup’, have been holding steady demonstrations inside the campus.

In video obtained by Reuters, students were seen running and throwing stones and setting off fireworks.

Plain-clothed security men chased them and made arrests, an eyewitness told Reuters.

Mursi was ousted by the then army chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in July 2013, exactly a year after he took office and following mass protests against his rule.

He will stand trial on Tuesday over the presidential palace clashes that took place in late 2012 in the midst of his presidency.

After Mursi’s ouster, Egypt launched a crackdown against the country’s Islamists where many Brotherhood supporters and leaders were arrested.
