Censor Board behaving like ‘homophobic society’, says ‘angry’ Hansal Mehta

jan29v25.flvNew Delhi, Jan 29 (ANI): Filmmaker Hansal Mehta has expressed his anger and disappointment over the Censor Board’s decision to give an A certificate to the trailer of his upcoming film ‘Aligarh’.He said it is for the first time that a trailer is being allowed to be screened only in theatres where adult films are shown.Expressing his anger, Hansal said the censor board is behaving like a homophobic society.The ‘Citylights’ director adds the decision of certifying the trailer as ‘A’ is breaking the back of a small film and raising questions on the freedom of expression.’Aligarh’ is based on the real life incident of Dr. Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras, who was suspended from his job because of his sexual orientation.The film stars Manoj Vajpayee and Rajkumar Rao in the lead roles.The trailer was launched on January 28 in Mumbai and the film is scheduled to release on February 28.
