An attorney for the family of a young black man who was shot and killed by three Chicago police officers says the video showing the teen’s death is “horrific.”
Attorney Michael Oppenheimer said he and Paul O’Neal’s family watched the police footage of the shooting at his Chicago office, shortly after it was released to the public on Friday.
He says the footage shows officers “executing” the teen. The family was so distraught, they left after viewing the video, without talking to reporters.
The three Chicago police officers involved in the shooting were stripped of their law enforcement authority.
Authorities say the three policemen shot and killed the 18-year-old on Thursday after he sideswiped a squad car and another vehicle with a stolen Jaguar he was driving as police tried to arrest him.
An autopsy determined O’Neal died from a gunshot wound to the back.
