Chris Stapleton, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert win big at CMA awards
Luke Bryan took home the top prize at the Country Music Association Awards, held in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday (November 04). The singer, who also took home the top prize a year ago, paid tribute in his acceptance speech to Chris Stapleton, who many saw as the big winner of the night.
Stapleton walked away with an unexpected three awards: album of the year, new artist of the year, and male vocalist of the year. He also earned a standing ovation for his on stage duet with Justin Timberlake.
Miranda Lambert took home the award for best female vocalist – her sixth consecutive win. Lambert accepted the award, making only a glancing reference to her very public breakup with fellow country star Blake Shelton.
The other big winner of the night was Little Big Town, whose hit “Girl Crush” was named single of the year and also won song of the year.
