The clean-up in Indiana has begun after multiple tornadoes slammed the state Wednesday, destroying homes and businessess but miraculously, officials say, causing no fatalities. Linda So reports.

Homes completely leveled. Trees snapped in half. And tons of scattered debris.

This is the damage left behind after multiple tornadoes tore through central Indiana.

But despite the devastation, officials say there is a silver lining.

SOUNDBITE: KOKOMO MAYOR GREG GOODNIGHT, SAYING:

7:57:24 “We’re all very grateful that there were no fatalities and no serious injuries.”

SOUNDBITE: HOWARD COUNTY SHERIFF STEVE ROGERS, SAYING:

7:55:30 “Ten to fifteen people with very minor injuries throughout the city and the county so we are very blessed to be able to tell you we don’t have any serious injuries or casualties as a result of this storm.”

The city of Kokomo bore the brunt of the storm. This Starbucks was leveled. Cars smashed. The roof of this home sheared off.

People living in this apartment complex had to pack up and leave after the tornado plowed right through their neighborhood.

SOUNDBITE: KATHLEEN MARSH, TORNADO SURVIVOR, SAYING:

“I tried to push the door and the wind was just blowing fast… I was just so scared… Never in my life.”

Governor Mike Pence, who was on the campaign trail for running mate Donald Trump, cut his trip short and returned to Indiana.

Thousands are without power as the hard task of cleanup begins.
