Clinton supporters in Iowa want to delete email controversy

Iowa supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton are standing by their woman.

Just days before the state’s voters come together for their closely-watched caucus,, one local resident of Ames wishes the controversy over Clinton’s emails would just go away.

“People keep talking about it but it hasn’t been an issue in the Democratic primaries. And so I think it’s just an attack scheme. Hopefully it will all go away like all of the other attack schemes do eventually.”

Clinton has been criticized for conducting government business on her personal email account while serving as Secretary of State.

On Friday, the State Department conceded for the first time that at least 22 emails sent through Clinton’s private server contained information classified as “top secret.”

One Chicago supporter, who was visiting relatives in Iowa, says the controversy could have a negative effect.

“Unfortunately I do think it could take a ding to the reputation. But at the same time I really don’t think that there’s anyone else more qualified to get the job done and get us back to the place we need to go to and get this country, you know, back on track to where it needs to be.”

Clinton has been trying to hold her lead over rival Democrat, Bernie Sanders.

Clinton supporters are hoping the latest twist controversy won’t provide more fuel for her opponents.
