Death and violence in the West Bank

A Palestinian man is shot dead Sunday after he tried to ram a taxi into two Israelis at a West Bank junction and then got out of his vehicle with a knife in an attempt to stab them.

Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld.

“The Israeli police in its different units responded to a terrorist attack that was carried out by a Palestinian driving his taxi towards the Jerusalem area. Where two places he rammed his vehicle into an Israeli vehicle, one person was injured lightly, he fled his vehicle and with a knife in his hand, tried to stab a number of Israelis. In immediate response at the scene, the terrorist was shot and killed.”

Also on Sunday an Israeli woman is stabbed to death and three Palestinian attackers are killed, adding to the death toll as an eight-week-old wave of violence shows no sign of dying down.

The Palestinian government said in a statement that Israel is carrying out unlawful killings and — quote — “accusing every victim of holding a knife.”

Eighty-three Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces, while 19 Israelis and an American student have been killed in Palestinian attacks.

Secretary of State John Kerry is due in the region and is expected to discuss measures to stem the violence.
