“I think it’s a difficult first part of the season, but even if the season finishes like this, it will still remain my team, it will still remain Chelsea – the big club. It’s not because you had a bad day, you ruin what you did before, in life you go through these kind of moments also but you have to show you have some kind of character and some ability to change this and to come back stronger, so I hope that now, with those two wins in a row, I think the club will be now in the right direction and come back stronger again.”

“People think it’s easy to play there (in North America’s Major League), believe me, it’s more difficult than playing in the Premier League because of the travel. You know you could stay at the airport three or four hours if you miss your flight, so that’s what is really levelling the game you know. So as you can see there’s not a lot of away wins because when the teams arrive they are tired, it’s very difficult to keep that and there’s also some very good players in this league.”

STORY: Former Chelsea star Didier Drogba was full of praise on Wednesday (November 25) for his former club, voicing confidence that they can bounce back from what has been a poor start to the league campaign.

“I think it’s a difficult first part of the season, but even if the season finishes like this, it will still remain my team, it will still remain Chelsea – the big club. It’s not because you had a bad day, you ruin what you did before, in life you go through these kind of moments also but you have to show you have some kind of character and some ability to change this and to come back stronger, so I hope that now, with those two wins in a row, I think the club will be now in the right direction and come back stronger again,” said Drogba in an interview with Reuters in London.

The Ivory Coast national currently plays his soccer with Canadian side Montreal Impact, who play in the North American Major League Soccer tournament. Drogba says he has found the league to be tougher than the highly competitive English Premiership.

“People think it’s easy to play there, believe me, it’s more difficult than playing in the Premier League because of the travel. You know you could stay at the airport three or four hours if you miss your flight, so that’s what is really levelling the game you know. So as you can see there’s not a lot of away wins because when the teams arrive they are tired, it’s very difficult to keep that and there’s also some very good players in this league,” he said.

Drogba, 37, has scored 12 goals in 14 appearances for Montreal and led them into the play-offs where they were knocked out at the semi-finals stage to Columbus Crew.
