STORY: Anthony Benna of France and Canadian Justine Dufour-Lapointe took the honours in the dual moguls at the Deer Valley resort in Utah on Saturday (February 6) night.

Benna and Finland’s Jimi Salonen were neck-and-neck on the final run but the French skier performed better on the jump and then held his lead to the line.

Kazakhstan’s Dmitriy Reiherd took third place.

Afterwards Benna commented: “Run after run I pushed the limit and when I stay in the final I see all the public and I just said ‘no, don’t finish second, take the first place or nothing’.”

Salonen’s second place boosted him into fifth place in the standings behind leader Mikael Kingsbury of Canada with Benna now seventh.

In the women’s final, Dufour-Lapointe saw Kazakhstan’s Yulia Galysheva take an early lead but the Canadian ground her down to win by a narrow margin.

“I was able to just express my talent today in those moguls. Even if it was rough and challenging, I mean I really had fun tonight,” she said afterwards.

The win consolidated her lead in the standings over her sister Chloe with Galysheva third.
