“It’s true but we did two draws if I remember well and the two victories were very close of them so I hope that tomorrow we will have the arguments to win the game. It’s true that if I were a bookmaker I would not gamble on the French team but I am a player and I think that we can change history on the pitch.”

2. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FRANCE CAPTAIN THIERRY DUSAUTOIR SAYING:

“The last time we played against Argentina we lost it so it’s true that maybe we can have more opportunity to win the game against the Argentinians but I don’t think that it would be easier for us to play against them so really I just want the team to be focused on this game, to want to improve and to have the aim to win against Ireland.”

STORY: Past results and quarter-final match-ups will mean nothing to France when Les Bleus take on Ireland in Sunday’s (October 11) blockbuster Rugby World Cup Pool D decider, skipper Thierry Dusautoir said.

France have not beaten Ireland in four years but have prevailed in all three of the previous World Cup encounters between the two countries.

“It’s true but we did two draws if I remember well and the two victories were very close of them so I hope that tomorrow we will have the arguments to win the game,” Dusautoir told reporters on the eve of the clash at the Millennium Stadium.

“If I were a bookmaker I would not gamble on the French team but I am a player and I think that we can change history on the pitch,” he added.

Both teams have already qualified for the last eight and the losers of Sunday’s match will face holders New Zealand for a place in the semi-finals, while the winners take on Argentina.

That will have no bearing on France’s mindset when they take on the Six Nations champions under the closed roof at the Millennium Stadium.

“The last time we played against Argentina we lost it so it’s true that maybe we can have more opportunity to win the game against the Argentinians but I don’t think that it would be easier for us to play against them,” said Dusuatoir.

“I just want the team to be focused on this game, to want to improve and to have the aim to win against Ireland,” the captain added.
