STORY: The New York Red Bulls will look to steal the top spot in the East standings when they meet leaders Toronto FC Sunday (September 18) in a showdown of two of the top teams in MLS.

“We know it’s going to be a tough game and add in a top of table clash and it’s more of an exciting game,” Red Bulls forward Bradley Wright-Phillips told reporters after training Friday (September 16).

New York (12-8-9, 44 points) stumbled in their last match, drawing 2-2 with bottom feeders DC United, but Wright-Phillips has been superb with an MLS leading 18 goals scored this season, including tallies in his last five matches.

Midfielder Michael Bradley and Toronto FC (13-7-8, 46 points), who lead the Eastern Conference by just two points over the Red Bulls and New York City FC (12-8-9, 44 points), know three points are up for grabs and first place is on the line.

“Certainly one of our big rivals in the east is coming to our stadium and it’s a big chance for us,” Bradley told reporters in Toronto.

The Red Bulls travel to Toronto’s BMO Field with a 5p ET (2100gmt) start for the match.
