“Unchanged from last week, both bench and obviously the starting team, so great to get the consistency of selection and continuity hopefully leading into this game. Nice to be back at Twickenham and looking forward to the game. Looking forward to it.”

“When I look at the previous two games that Italy played recently; so Ireland at the weekend, they got two tries in three minutes and South Africa in November who won 22-3 I think it was or six; again a very, very competitive Italian team against them, so we need to make sure we get our preparation right in the same way we did last week.”

STORY: England have named an unchanged team to face Italy in the Six Nations at Twickenham on Saturday (February 14) — sticking with the starting 15 who beat Wales 21-16 in their opener last week.

It means Jonathan Joseph, who scored a try against Wales, and George Kruis will make their first Twickenham starts.

Coach Stuart Lancaster’s replacement bench is also unchanged.

“Unchanged from last week, both bench and obviously the starting team so great to get the consistency of selection and continuity hopefully leading into this game,” Lancaster told reporters at a news conference on Thursday (February 12).

“Nice to be back at Twickenham and looking forward to the game. Looking forward to it.”

Lancaster said he was wary of Italy who provided a stern test before being beaten 26-3 by Ireland in their opening match.

“When I look at the previous two games that Italy played recently; so Ireland at the weekend, they got two tries in three minutes and South Africa in November who won 22-3 I think it was or six; again a very, very competitive Italian team against them, so we need to make sure we get our preparation right in the same way we did last week,” Lancaster said.

Meanwhile, prop David Wilson has been ruled out of the Six Nations due a neck injury. The 29-year-old tighthead will undergo surgery this week to relieve pressure on a nerve problem.

Wilson, who has played 41 times for his country, started all four November internationals but was unavailable for England’s victory over Wales..

He was replaced by Dan Cole, who returned from injury after a long spell on the sidelines, and the Leicester prop was again named in the team to play Italy.
