Farmer Gajendra Singh’s suicide puts Modi govt on back foot
Bengaluru/ Dausa/ New Delhi, April 24 (ANI): A farmer’s suicide during a political rally in Delhi to protest central government’s land bill has put Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who caught the nation’s imagination with his promise of ‘good days’, on the back foot. A farmer, identified as Gajendra Singh, hanged himself from a tree at a rally organised by Aam Aadmi Party to protest Modi’s land bill on Wednesday. The incident has given much needed impetus to opposition, which is leaving no opportunity to fire salvos at Modi government. Hundreds of members of Congress party took out a candlelight vigil on Thursday evening in solidarity with the deceased famer and shouted slogans against Modi’s land bill and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. Back home in the farmer’s native village in Rajasthan, his daughter has put the blame on AAP, accusing it of being insensitive.
