Forty Indian prisoners released from Karachi jail return back home

Sharing is Caring

Amritsar, Nov 30 (ANI): 40 prisoners released from Karachi jail in Pakistan returned to India. The prisoners including 35 fishermen and five civilians reached Punjab via Wagah Border. Pakistan had released the Indian prisoners on Friday as a “goodwill gesture”. The prisoners said that they were happy and thanked the Indian government for securing their release. The fishermen had been arrested for illegal fishing in Pakistani waters. One prisoner was arrested for illegally crossing the border. Pakistan and India routinely detain fishermen from entering each other’s waters for fishing. They mistakenly enter other’s waters as there is no demarcation of maritime boundaries.
