The Noeux-les-Mines ski resort in France’s northern Pas-de-Calais region is celebrating its twentieth birthday. The synthetic slopes form France’s lowest resort at only 129 metres altitude. But what’s more, they’ve been built on the refuse of decades-old mining excavations.
