Fresh rains threaten to worsen flood situation in Kashmir

Rajouri/ Poonch/ Srinagar/ New Delhi, April 01 (ANI): Incessant rains began in Jammu and Kashmir since Wednesday (April 01) morning posing fresh threats to the locals residing along the river banks. The continued unseasonal rains are raising fears of flash floods in the mountainous region. The fresh spell of shower in Rajouri district has cast fears among the locals. Director of Indian Meteorological Department in Jammu and Kashmir, Sonam Lotus, said that evening and Thursday (April 02) morning are crucial days as some places may receive heavy rainfall. The families, which were rescued in the Chandak area of Poonch district, were supplied with rations, under Megh Rahat Operation, by the Indian Army. However, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, said that these protest were unnecessary. Meanwhile, in order to prevent flood like situation, locals in Srinagar prepared a special divine dish to propitiate their gods. The dish is a kind of Kashmiri Pulao, made up of rice and potatoes.
