Ftii Struggle Gets Impetus As Filmmakers Return Awards (Nnis Special)

The Modi government has certainly awakened activism in the nation, positive it may be for the nation but might not result in good for the BJP regime. After over 30 writers returned their Sahitya Akademi awards over growing intolerance in the nation, the country has become a witness to 10 filmmakers including Dibaker Banerjee returning their national awards alleging the government is trying to muzzle voices of dissent. This has not come out of the blue but after students of Film and Television institute of India (FTII) withdrew their strike which they had been holding for past 139 days in protest to appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as the head of the institute, whom the students as well as film fraternity considered undeserving.
