German as third language violates India’s education curriculum: Smriti Irani

Sharing is Caring

New Delhi, Nov 15 (ANI): Education Minister, Smriti Irani has said that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Kendriya Vidyalaya in 2011 which includes German as the third language, was violation of the national curriculum framework. According to media reports, from now on, no Kendriya Vidyalaya will teach German. Instead, children will have to opt for the Sanskrit language. However, Irani said that German has not been removed entirely, adding that now the language shall be taught under the ‘foreign language’ category. Meanwhile, German ambassador to India, Michael Steiner, hoped that a decision would be taken in the interest of students and both the nations. With increasing globalization, more and more Indian children are opting for a foreign language at school level.
