STORY: Go Ahead Eagles gave their survival hopes a major boost on Sunday (April 19) with a priceless win at third-placed Feyenoord.

Jules Reimerink’s cool second-half strike condemned Dordrecht to the second tier next season, and left the visitors just two points from safety with three games remaining.

They are still second bottom in 17th place with 26 points, but NAC Breda are just a point above them and 15th-placed Heracles have 28.

Feyenoord, meanwhile, saw their slim chance of a top two finish and Champions League football next season almost certainly disappear, with second-placed Ajax all-but uncatchable.

The home team could have had the match sewn up by half time, but couldn’t find a way past Mickey van der Hart in the Go Ahead goal.

In the first half Karim El Ahmadi headed against the bar and Colin Kazim-Richards should have done better when Elvis Manu’s shot was saved.

Go Ahead began the second half well, Glynor Plet failing to convert with his head from six yards out.

But Reimerink gave them the lead on 71 minutes, firing past Vermeer after he was played in by Peter Van Ooijen.

And they could have doubled it minutes later, Vermeer saving Van Ooijen’s fierce shot.

Feyenoord didn’t create much after that, their best opportunities a late header which Mitchell te Vrede planted over, and a Kazim-Richards injury-time shot which evaded everyone and rolled across the face of goal.
