India Rests Raina, Ready To Test Bench Strength
After the onslaught of Rohit Sharma at the Eden Gardens, India will take the meek Lankans in the fifth and final One Day International match at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association Stadium in Ranchi with an eye for a whitewash. With Ranchi’s favourite boy MS Dhoni rested for the series, one wonders whether crowd will turn out in numbers for this dead rubber.
INDIA RESTS RAINA, READY TO TEST BENCH STRENGTH
India’s swashbuckling middle-order batsman Suresh Raina has been rested for the ODI and the team has decided to give new faces ample chance to test their bench strength ahead of the 2015 World Cup.
Talking ahead of the match, team’s assistant coach Sanjay Bangar said that the team would adopt new strategy of keeping as many wickets as possible for the latter half of the innings, a strategy which the team believes would be vital in Australia.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka which arrived for the series in haste can still look at the positive side of leaving the tour with the high of a consolation win in the last match of the series.
