Drass (J&K), July 24 (ANI): Ahead of ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’, the Indian Army on Monday displayed the Bofors guns used in the emphatic victory against Pakistan in the 1999 Kargil war. The Army will be celebrating the ‘Vijay Diwas’ on Wednesday through series of functions. Echoing the advantages of the lethal weapon Indian Army personal H.S Suhag said, these guns were used in Kargil war at number of locations and played a vital role in helping the country defeat Pakistan. After fighting non-stop for 60 days, the Indian Army’s brave soldiers successfully took control of posts in extremely difficult and treacherous high altitude and glaciated terrain across the Himalayas in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated all over India on July 26, every year to commemorate the victory and honour the war heroes.
