“So I just want to say this is not the first time that I’m fighting in Duesseldorf, I’ve done many long way and many fighters that I have faced that were different and this time I have a very colourful guy that is young and wants to have a real challenge and of course I’ve heard what he’s said and he’s nervous, which means he’s well prepared, which means he’s alert, because it’s good to be nervous. I’m nervous before every fight, I have to confirm it and this is fact.”

STORY: World heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko said on Tuesday (November 24) nerves before any fight are natural and can aid a fighter.

Klitschko was speaking at a news conference ahead of his 19th title defence against Briton Tyson Fury who has said he feels very confident he can create an upset and defeat Klitschko on Saturday (November 28).

I’m nervous before every fight, I have to confirm it and this is fact,” said Klitschko.

Klitschko’s opponent Fury, 27, is unbeaten at 24-0. A win for Klitschko would hand the Briton his first defeat and would bring the Ukrainian star closer to Joe Louis’ record number of 25 successful title defences.

The two were initially meant to meet on October 24, but Klitschko picked up a calf injury at training and the fight was rearranged for November 28.

Klitschko has not lost for 11 years and has a record of 64 wins and three defeats.

The world champion’s WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO crowns will be on the line when the pair finally get into the ring.
