“Totally, I don’t know if anyone has totally. If I would say, for example, that we would take Zlatan Ibrahimovic for, I don’t know what’s his price at the moment, maybe he’s 35, but probably if we want to get him we’d have to pay, I’m not sure, but you’d have to pay 35 and 100 million pounds for example, I should have asked before signing.”

3. (SOUNDBITE) (English) JUERGEN KLOPP SAYING:

“It’s like I used to work. Sometimes my staff and myself have an idea of a player we know or we heard about, we saw whatever, and then we collect some information about him together. It’s not my job then to cut videos or things like this, but then there are players our scouts bring in and say look at this, we heard about, we saw him, we watch him for a long time and we speak about this. At the end it’s only one thing like I said at the first press conference, if I don’t want that a player comes here then he won’t come.”

STORY: Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp said on Tuesday (January 19) that he had the final say on any signings the club may make.

Liverpool’s Premier League defeat against bitter rivals Manchester United on Sunday has hurt their ambitions of breaking into the top four, the 1-0 loss leaving them ninth in the table after 22 games, eight points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

With England striker Daniel Sturridge missing most of the season through injury and 32.5 million pound striker Christian Benteke struggling for form, Klopp was asked if he was in charge of bringing players to the club.

“Totally, I don’t know if anyone has totally. If I would say, for example, that we would take Zlatan Ibrahimovic for, I don’t know what’s his price at the moment, maybe he’s 35, but probably if we want to get him we’d have to pay, I’m not sure, but you’d have to pay 35 and 100 million pounds for example, I should have asked before signing,” said the German ahead of Liverpool’s third round FA Cup replay against fourth-tier side Exeter City at Anfield on Wednesday.

“It’s like I used to work. Sometimes my staff and myself have an idea of a player we know or we heard about, we saw whatever, and then we collect some information about him together.

“Like I said at the first press conference, if I don’t want that a player comes here then he won’t come.”
