“This is a very important game for different reasons. It’s a hurdle we need to get through in order reach, actually, the final. And as we all know, that’s not only hard enough, because football is fundamentally tough, but also because Bayern Munich, of course, are an exceptional team. That’s everything together. If I took the time to quickly compare all the games, I don’t think I was more tense than ahead of this game”

“This is like a final and we won’t be able to ignore the intensity. There is no room for interpretation. This really is everything. And for us, it’s important to know and remember that whenever we have met in the past and when we have stuck to our game plan we have been a difficult opponent, a very difficult one”

STORY: Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp says his team will prove tough opponents when they face holders Bayern Munich in Tuesday’s (April 28) German Cup semi-final.

Dortmund are desperate to win the Cup to secure a Europa League spot and rescue something from a disappointing campaign.

Coach Juergen Klopp, who will be leaving Dortmund at the end of the season after seven years in charge, said he was tense because the meeting with Bayern would be just as tough as a final.

“This is a very important game for different reasons,” Klopp told at a news conference on Monday. “It’s a hurdle we need to get through in order reach, actually, the final. And as we all know, that’s not only hard enough, because football is fundamentally burdensome, but also because Bayern Munich, of course, is an exceptional team. That’s everything together. If I took the time to quickly compare all the games, I don’t think I was more tense than ahead of this game,” said Klopp.

Dortmund lost last season’s final to Bayern after beating them in the 2012 edition, and have also lost both league games to Bayern this term.

For Klopp, Tuesday’s match in Munich will be “everything” as he approaches the remaining four games with the club before his departure from football.

“This is like a final and we won’t be able to ignore the intensity,” he said. “There is no room for interpretation. This really is everything. And for us, it’s important to know and remember that whenever we have met in the past and when we have stuck to our game plan we have been a difficult opponent, a very difficult one.”

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola said his team will not ease up after winning the Bundesliga title with four games to spare.

Bayern, chasing a treble of trophies, secured their 25th German league crown on Sunday (April 26), the second in a row under Guardiola.
