“Kung Fu Panda 3” fights its way to box office win
Po the panda reunites with his long-lost father in “Kung Fu Panda 3, for a solid opening weekend at the North American box office, raking in 41 million dollars.
Also new this week, Disney’s “The Finest Hours,” about a 1950s Coast Guard rescue mission, starring Chris Pine and Casey Affleck.
But it couldn’t keep pace with the pandas, generating only modest returns of 10.3 million dollars for a fourth place finish.
That puts it behind Leonardo DiCaprio’s “The Revenant”, in second place with 12.4 million, and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, in third place with 10.8 million.
With the best opening weekend of 2016 to date, “Kung Fu Panda” fans have a lot to celebrate.
