1. (SOUNDBITE) (English) LIVERPOOL MANAGER JUERGEN KLOPP SUPPORTING HIS MEDICAL STAFF, SAYING:

“So there is no doubt from my side. After two-and-a-half weeks I know it is like it is. If you look on, on the kind of injuries we have, then you know it’s nothing (to do) with the medical department. It’s because of hits or other things. So then it’s normal in football that nobody wants to wait, but you will have to wait because recovery or rehab needs time”

3. (SOUNDBITE) (English) KLOPP SAYING OF CHELSEA MANAGER JOSE MOURINHO, WHO HE HAS FACED WHEN BOTH WERE WITH OTHER CLUBS:

“Well, for my side I’m full of respect for his work, sure. I think if you’re not a journalist he can be – or a referee – he can be a nice guy (LAUGHS). And so we’ve had a good talk. I like to meet people and he’s a nice guy. When he saw us he was full of respect during the game, everything. He is emotional, I am emotional, but we are professional enough to know after the big whistle normal life starts again”

5. (SOUNDBITE) (English) KLOPP SAYING:

“I am not sure that it is easier to play against Chelsea now; why should it be? Than before, than last year. OK, full of self-confidence maybe, maybe makes some things different , but to be wounded can make you stronger too and that’s for sure in the moment they don’t feel life as good as can be so, I know they want to change it, that’s big motivation but, you know, we are motivated too”

STORY: Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp on Friday (October 30) declined to blame his medical staff for so many players being unavailable.

England international Daniel Sturridge remains on the long-term injury list and as many as nine first-team players have already suffered muscle injuries this season, but Klopp said it was not the medics’ fault.

“So there is no doubt from my side. After two-and-a-half weeks I know it is like it is. If you look on, on the kind of injuries we have, then you know it’s nothing (to do) with the medical department. It’s because of hits or other things. So then it’s normal in football that nobody wants to wait, but you will have to wait because recovery or rehab needs time,” said the German.

Liverpool are ninth in the table, three points ahead of champions Chelsea, who they meet on Saturday.

Klopp has come up against Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho previously in matches between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid and said he is a nice guy – but not always to everyone.

“Well, for my side I’m full of respect for his work, sure. I think if you’re not a journalist he can be – or a referee – he can be a nice guy. And so we’ve had a good talk. I like to meet people and he’s a nice guy. When he saw us he was full of respect during the game, everything. He is emotional, I am emotional, but we are professional enough to know after the big whistle normal life starts again.”

Having already lost five league games and gone out of the Capital One Cup on penalties to Stoke City in midweek, Chelsea are having a disappointing season.

Klopp, however, believes his first visit to Stamford Bridge will be a tough one.

“I am not sure that it is easier to play against Chelsea now; why should it be? Than before, than last year. OK, full of self-confidence maybe, maybe makes some things different , but to be wounded can make you stronger too and that’s for sure in the moment they don’t feel life as good as can be so, I know they want to change it, that’s big motivation but, you know, we are motivated too,” said the Reds’ boss.
