An autistic 11-year-old boy was found in the Australian bush on Tuesday (April 7), four days after being reported missing.

Luke Shambrook was seen wandering away from Candlebark Campground in the Fraser National Park near Lake Eildon on Friday morning (April 3).

Local police, search and rescue workers, Victoria Police’s air wing, water police, the State Emergency Service and campers in the area were all involved in the search.

He was discovered 3km (1.8 miles) from where he was reported missing.

Footage filmed from a Victoria police air wing helicopter showed the boy standing in undergrowth looking up at the helicopter.

Emergency services are also seen rushing to help him in the video.

Acting Sergeant for Victoria Police, Brad Pascoe who first spotted the boy, said he was thrilled.

“All of us in the crew are parents ourselves and we can only what the parents of Luke had been going through,” he said.

“It’s just such a great reward for everybody’s efforts,” he added.
