New Delhi, Sep 16 (ANI) : Maharashtra government has decided to give away one lakh new auto-rickshaw permits but only to those who speak Marathi, and has invited flak from opposition. Congress leader Shakeel Ahmad said anyone can learn the language and all must respect the diversity in Maharashtra. Congress leader PL Punia said it is condemnable as non-mumbaikars also contribute to the economy of Mumbai, therefore should be given their due and all these divisive acts must not be accepted. He further said there is strength in diversity. Maharashtra transport minister Diwakar Raote announced explicitly that the applicant must speak Marathi and should possess a domicile of Maharashtra and should a resident of Maharashtra for the past 15 years.
