5. (SOUNDBITE) (English) PELLEGRINI SAYING:

“Well of course it was not a good week for us. As you say we lost the two games, against Liverpool a very ugly defeat also, and against Juventus we maybe improve a little bit but was not the result we want to have there.”

7. (SOUNDBITE) (English) PELLEGRINI SAYING:

“Well as I said always in the Premier League you never know which team will win (beat) the other. You see Liverpool come here and beat us but Crystal Palace went to Liverpool and beat Liverpool, after that Sunderland beat Crystal Palace. Always in the Premier League you never know which are the difficult games and the most easy games, but Southampton (have had) a good season, I think they haven’t lost any game away, they have good players and we have to play at a high performance if we want to win.”

STORY: Manchester City playmaker David Silva is back in the squad for Saturday’s (November 28) Premier League match against Southampton, but goalkeeper Joe Hart will be absent with a minor muscle injury, manager Manuel Pellegrini said.

Hart, expected to be out for 10 days, sustained the injury in Wednesday’s 1-0 loss to Juventus in the Champions League.

“Joe Hart has got a muscle injury, maybe he will be out, you never know because it’s very important, but I think he’ll be around 10 days out. Pablo Zabaleta also out for a couple of weeks, Vincent Kompany, (Eliaquim) Mangala.”

The return of Silva, who last featured for the club in the 6-1 drubbing of Newcastle United on October 3, will come as welcome news to City who have scored just three times in their last four league matches.

“Well we know that David is a very important player, the same as Kun (Aguero). Very difficult to replace.”

City, in third place, will look to get back to winning ways in the league after losing 4-1 at home to Liverpool last weekend.

“Well of course it was not a good week for us. As you say we lost the last two games, against Liverpool a very ugly defeat also, and against Juventus we maybe improve a little bit but was not the result we want to have there,” he said.

Pellegrini said he expects a difficult encounter against the Saints, who will be without leading goalscorer Graziano Pelle after he picked up his fifth booking of the season in last weekend’s loss to Stoke City.

“Well as I said always in the Premier League you never know which team will win (beat) the other. You see Liverpool come here and beat us but Crystal Palace went to Liverpool and beat Liverpool, after that Sunderland beat Crystal Palace. Always in the Premier League you never know which are the difficult games and the most easy games, but Southampton (have had) a good season, I think they haven’t lost any game away, they have good players and we have to play at a high performance if we want to win,” he said.

Southampton are eighth in the league table, and alongside leaders Leicester City, have yet to lose on their travels.
