Massachusetts Baby Doe finally laid to rest

The toddler whose body was found in a trash bag on a beach on Deer Island, Massachusetts last June has been laid to rest.

2-year-old Bella Bond was buried next to her great-grandmother in a cemetery in Winthrop, Massachusetts on Saturday.

A reconstructed photo of the child posted on the internet by police trying to identify her went viral on social media, and drew attention to her tragic fate.

Bella’s mother and her mother’s boyfriend have been charged in connection with her death.

But one local resident says Bella still holds a special place in the hearts of many.

“There were so many people in our community who either walked Deer Island, or would make visits to the to the place she was found, on a daily basis. I thought it would be only proper that people who had lived with this tragedy for so long who prayed for Bella have that chance to say their prayers for Bella and hope that she rests in peace.”

Bella’s body, in a coffin covered with a handmade quilt, has been laid to rest, where many hope she will find the peace they prayed for.
