Modi meets Hyundai Chairman and Samsung CEO in South Korea

Seoul, May 19 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met business tycoons from South Korea’s largest conglomerates, including Hyundai and Samsung. The manufacturing giants operate plants in India where they enjoy sizeable shares of the vast consumer market for cars, smartphones and home appliances. Modi is looking to secure promises of bigger investments as part of his “Make In India” campaign. He met South Korea’s largest carmaker, Hyundai Motor Company chairman Chung Mong-Koo. Hyundai Motor Company, operates two plants in Chennai and expanding that investment was reportedly high on the agenda during the meet. The PM also met the head of Samsung’s mobile unit JK Shin. He is expected to help accelerate the South Korean firm’s reported plans to build a third plant in India, one of the world’s fastest-growing handset markets.
