Monique Lhuillier celebrates at NY Fashion Week
NATURAL ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
Nostalgia and signature silhouettes were the inspiration as designer Monique Lhuillier created her spring/summer 2017 collection. The veteran is celebrating 20 years in the industry and used her fashion diaries as guidance to design the line. The edgy, yet feminine looks were all based on Lhuillier’s signature looks, but revamped for today’s modern woman. Lhuillier takes pride in knowing she made it to 20 years and is proud that some of her earlier looks are still relevant today. Although visually beautiful, Lhuillier is quick to point to mention that the clothes are more interesting than soft and pretty. The collection is filled with tulle, embroidery details, lace and sequins. High slits give dresses a naughty feel. An array of pantsuits were created to either reveal skin or provide structure. Lhuillier played with the colors of the rainbow, with black as the base. New York Fashion Week will end on September 15.
