1. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FRANK LAMPARD SAYING:

“Oh for sure, his record speaks for itself, I know he’s the most successful manager ever in Chelsea’s history.

“There will be a combination of things, I’m sure he’s pulling his hair out and wanting to turn the corner, I’m sure the players are wanting to perform. I know the quality in the dressing room, I know the squad, I know people like John Terry and the desire to keep Chelsea up where they always are. And as I say that will turn around very quickly and then Chelsea can move on and be where we expect them to be.”

3. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FRANK LAMPARD SAYING:

“A number of things, I’m not right behind the scenes anymore so I’m just talking looking from the outside but every team has difficult periods, Chelsea won the league as the best team last year and they’ve had a difficult start. We don’t expect that as Chelsea have set such high standards over the last 10 or 15 years, but I think they’ll come back. Maybe players are out of form a little bit at the same time but you’re talking about top quality players, top quality manager and a top quality club, so for me it’s a matter of time before they turn it around.

“Whether they can go and win the league again is very difficult but I’m sure they’ll turn themselves around and get themselves in a position where you expect to see Chelsea.”

STORY: Jose Mourinho will be tearing his hair out over Chelsea’s miserable start to the season but it is simply a matter of time before the team get their mojo back, according to former Stamford Bridge great Frank Lampard.

The 37-year-old, the highest scorer in Chelsea’s history with 211 goals, is now playing for New York City and was back in London on Tuesday to receive an OBE (Order of the British Empire) from Prince William at Buckingham Palace.

“I’m sure he’s pulling his hair out and wanting to turn the corner,” Lampard said of his former boss Mourinho. “I know the quality in the dressing room, I know the squad, I know people like John Terry and the desire to keep Chelsea up where they always are. And as I say that will turn around very quickly and then Chelsea can move on and be where we expect them to be.

Champions Chelsea are sixth from bottom after losing five of their 10 Premier League matches this season and Mourinho has come under increasing fire for his repeated run-ins with match officials and the FA.

The next game for the London club is Tuesday night’s Capital One Cup fourth-round tie at Stoke City.
