NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg offered a swift response denouncing the move.

Tension has flared anew between Russia and Western powers over Moscow’s role in the Ukraine crisis. Pro-Russian separatist forces have seized a large part of the country’s east following Russia’s annexation of Crimea from Ukraine in early 2014.

And with no indications that Moscow is prepared to back down, it’s feared relations can only get worse.
