Nepal Earthquake: Death toll rising

Sharing is Caring

Nepal, April 26 (ANI): Survivors of Nepal’s worst earthquake in over 80 years are taking shelter from the elements anywhere they can. Many have gathered in and around the teaching hospital in Kathmandu. They’re afraid to return to their damaged homes after the 7.9 magnitude quake hit on Saturday. Early on Sunday the official number of dead stood at more than 1, 800 and at least 4, 700 people have been injured. India is already sending aircraft and relief supplies in response to the Nepal government’s plea for international help. In many areas rescuers have had to use their bare hands to search through rubble for survivors. Help has only just reached the Mount Everest base camp where hundreds of climbers are stranded and at least 17 have been killed by an avalanche caused by the quake.
