Nepal PM Sushil Koirala says earthquake death toll may reach 10,000
Kathmandu, April 28 (ANI): Even as rescue operations in earthquake hit Nepal are in full swing, the country’s Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Tuesday told Reuters that death toll could reach 10,000. Koirala also ordered intensified rescue efforts and appealed for foreign supplies of tents and medicines. “The government is doing all it can for rescue and relief on a war footing. It is a challenge and a very difficult hour for Nepal,’ he said. Meanwhile, people with earthquake-induced injuries continued to flow into Kathmandu’s Bir Hospital as medical practitioners from Israel arrived to offer help. Doctors at Bir hospital have been working round-the-clock to treat the wounded and those in a critical condition, but support has been needed. A group of medical practitioners, including paramedics from Israel, took to the ground immediately after they arrived in Kathmandu and offered help to the doctors whose energy has been drained over the past three days.
