Nik Wallenda prepares to walk Florida observation wheel

Nik Wallenda’s next stunt will happen here in Orlando, Florida.

The acrobat will walk on top of this moving observation wheel … without a safety harness or balancing pole.

SOUNDBITE: Nik Wallenda, high-wire walker, saying (English):

“This is set at a walking pace which is great so that I can keep up. But again, it’s not just walking though, it’s the fact that I have to walk and move around some structures and get underneath structures, so there’s going to be a lot going on for sure. Without a balancing pole it’s really challenging.”

Wallenda will balance on a 6-inch-wide rim atop the 400-foot or almost 13 meter-high Orlando Eye, which takes 20 minutes to move a full circle.

And what motivates the high-wire walker?

SOUNDBITE: Nik Wallenda, high-wire walker, saying (English):

“My whole life is, hopefully, about inspiring other people to become greater at what they do and in order to do so, I better live out my words and that’s what I’m doing here.”

Wallenda will take a turn on the Orlando Eye on April 29.
