Northeast festival in Delhi promotes region’s culture and tourism potential

New Delhi, Oct 29 (ANI): Lip-smacking food, colorful dresses, rich craft and lively music…The Northeast culture was well reflected at the recently held Northeast Festival at Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts in New Delhi. The 3-day event not only showcased the region’s culture, but promoted the Northeast as tourist destination. Around 65 artisans and textile entrepreneurs from northeastern states exhibited their handloom and handicraft products. An art and photography exhibition showcasing the works of various artists from the Northeast and other parts of the country attracted many of the visitors. The visitors also savoured the delicious food from the Northeast including bamboo steamed fish, roasted pork, sausages, chicken with bamboo shoot and fruits beer.
Fashion designers from the region put together a vibrant show. They presented the traditional weaving patterns, rich colorful fabrics and head gears worn by the numerous tribes of the Northeast.
