Opposition walk out of parliament as debate on goods and services tax begins
New Delhi, April 24 (ANI): Opposition parties walked out of the Lok Sabha of the Parliament on Friday as Finance Minister Arun Jaitley began debate on the Constitutional amendment bill to implement Goods and Services tax. India hopes to pass a national Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the second half of parliament’s budget session. The Congress party and some of it allies walked as Speaker of the house, Sumitra Mahajan overruled their request to send the bill to the parliament committee for further discussion. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the GST would streamline taxation system in the country which would further boost economic activities.
