New Delhi, Sep 21 (ANI): Pakistan’s national flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Wednesday cancelled its flights to northern areas. Reports suggested that the step was taken up as the country’s warplanes are engaged in a takeoff and landing rehearsal following the agitation built up in Indian State post the gruesome Uri attack. Official spokesperson of the Karachi-based airlines Danyal Gilani, however, tweeted that restrictions in the airspace led to the suspension of flights to Gilgit, Skardu and Chitral. “Due 2 northern areas airspace restrictions PIA’s 21st Sep’s flights to Gilgit, Skardu & Chitral ve been cancelled. Inconvenience regretted.” Gilani tweeted. The Islamic nation’s move has come up after it was lambasted by the United States and India for shielding terrorism and terrorist organisations. Pakistan has been facing strong criticism after a group of terrorist attacked an army base in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri sector on Sunday.
